Hey everybody! Cloverman Joe Carlson here with an update on my newest video project, “Solomon.” It’s twice as long as our usual videos, 10 minutes and 14 seconds, and took me 3 years to make it work, but it’s just about finished, and I’m happy to announce we will have a limited theatrical premiere at the Duluth Zinema! I decided to ask a $10 donation for entry, to benefit local conservation and youth science efforts, however, if you’d like to support me and the team, I’m hoping to have some cool merch available as well.
Solomon is a dramatic environmental PSA with creature-effects, all of which I did myself on a tiny $400 budget and a heaping bucket of inspiration and elbow grease. It touches on the local epidemic of mutated amphibians that passed through the region in recent years. It stars Eric Blair as a nameless scientist, struggling to understand what he had done, and Jack Schmidt as “Solomon,” with myself dubbing the voice. We’re basically a troop of skit actors who do this mostly for fun, so I try not to put too much pressure on my team, they only have so much time to help me out, but this is also a PSA, so not only is the pressure low, but it might be the best creature in the history of PSAs lol. It’s more-so “intro to scary” than scary, but it’s for a good cause, and when I dreamt up this character in first grade I never thought I’d ever truly see him make a difference, and now everyone can help!
